About Me

My name is Laura Kincaid and my dogs and I are located in northeast Illinois.
Oelamp Border Collies is the culmination of a dream for me. I got my first Border
Collie, Brandy, from a shelter while I was in college. She had been abused and
neglected and was afraid of everything and everyone when I first got her. I took
her to an obedience class for socialization, and was hooked almost immediately.
Brandy earned an AKC CD and her retirement. Showing was just too stressful
for her. Since then, I've had three Brittanys; Copper, Bo and Fondue (all waiting
for me at the Rainbow Bridge) and have returned to Border Collies.

My kennel (pronounced oil-lamp) is named after my maternal
grandfather, Orla E. Lampman. He was a very special man
in my life, and the only man Brandy ever liked at first sight.
He was taken from us in 1986 by Alzheimer's disease.

I bred my first litter of Border Collies in April 1992 and have been hooked on the breed ever since. It is a unique breed and definitely not for everyone, but I truly enjoy the drive and bidability that is so typical of the Border Collie. I strive to breed sound dogs in both structure and temperament. My dogs and I are active in agility and herding, with occasional forays into the obedience ring and conformation.
